The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.”

-Carl Jung

Welcome and introduction to Inner Essence Counselling

We all desire to live our lives true to who we are, but there are times where we can become stuck in old habits, patterns, and fears that are preventing us from forming an authentic and meaningful connection with ourselves and others, and keeping us from feeling inner peace and happiness.

I am passionate about getting alongside women and adolescent girls helping them discover their innate wisdom and capacity for growth and healing through cultivating more presence and awareness in their lives. I will support you to skillfully navigate through the suffering and difficulties that life brings using a holistic, client-centred, and collaborative counselling approach, helping and enabling you to connect with your resiliency for social, emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.

“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we’ll ever do.”

-Dr. Brene Brown
Testimonial from a mum

“At a time when our teenage daughter was dealing with some of the toughest emotions of her life and just not able to share or verbalise them with anyone, April facilitated a release through art therapy which was so useful and comforting to our daughter and, indirectly, brought about more of a peace of mind for me as Mum in relation to her well-being.

April’s gentle, caring nature was such a blessing and I cannot recommend her highly enough.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What is art therapy?

Stressful experiences can be made more stressful when we are not able to find the words to describe what we are experiencing. Art therapy can help. It is particularly useful in instances where talk therapy is either ineffective or insufficient.

Do I need to be artistic?

You do not have to be artistic to benefit from Art Therapy. Art therapy uses the process of making art in session as a way to communicate rather than talking throughout the entire session. Artwork made in session provides a tangible representation of your experiences that can be explored further through imagery and words.

What are the benefits of art therapy?

Art therapy has been shown to lead to increases in self-esteem, confidence, and self-awareness.

Positive results in art therapy may often be achieved by those facing issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, eating disorders, grief and loss, and more.
